Submit An Article To The Rogue Outdoorsman

We make it easy to submit an article.   Your article must be related to one of our category titles.  We don’t mind you promoting your awesome brand BUT you have to write something that is going to educate and inform beyond how cool you are and how neat your new line of widgets are.

For example, a fishing guide could submit an article with fishing tips or discuss a new regulation.  We would also accept fishing reports as a regular contributor situation.  ( We would provide an alternate posting method)

Articles should be clearly written and formatted.  We want your article to be as successful as possible.  A well written article will drive traffic to your blog and your social media profiles.  Be sure to ensure your links are appropriately formatted.  We want to make sure you get a positive backlink to help build domain authority for your blog.

Make sure your article is written for a clearly identifiable keyword.

Make sure you check your spelling.  There’s nothing worse than making a mic dropping point only to misspell a common word.

No Swearing.  You would think it should go without saying, but it must still be said.  We’re working to be a positive environment to share ideas and information in a constructive way.

No politics unless it is DIRECTLY related to a piece of outdoors legislation and also the main focus of your article.  We try to limit political discourse on our site.  We prefer to focus on work being done and needs for improvement.  We feel that by keeping focus on the topic rather than credit or blame is the most constructive way to deal with sensitive or controversial topics.

Any hard science claims or rebukes must include data to back up your claim.  A strong, or wishful feeling is not irrefutable proof.

Honesty and rock solid data are the only cost to play.  “studies say…”  What study?  Link to it.  Pretty smart people spent a great deal of time writing a paper.  Cite it and give  them the opportunity to weigh in on your  interpretation of their data.

Do not submit an article that cites Wikipedia as sole proof of point.  It will be rejected regardless of quality.  No offense, but it’s a tad too easy to “edit” facts.

You must be the registered owner of any YouTube content you submit as a part of your story.  I’m happy to send traffic to your awesome outdoor content all day long.  I just need an article to go with it.

We will blur out the names of unverified Twitter members in posts for privacy purposes unless you can make a very good argument for it submitted at the same time as your article.

Articles should be at least 600 words.  For reference, my About page is exactly 300 words.

We cannot accept articles about real estate for sale unless you are a licensed agent and the property is of significant importance to the sporting community.  Ex. Famous gun club or hunting ranch.  We view that as more of a news item than an ad.  That’s not saying we would turn down a bottle of whiskey if you felt so inclined provided it sells.

User submitted content becomes our property for display and marketing purposes.  The author remains legally responsible for their content claims.  We reserve the right to not publish or remove content that violates our terms.

We cannot respond personally to every submission.  We may contact you for further information.  Be sure to have a reachable email address.

Now for the legal (ish) fine print.  Every possible known protection in this or any other known universe is expressly implied.  If you submit an article that brings legal trouble, I’ll throw you under the bus faster than a politician in a scandal.
