Reuters Email Scam Making Rounds In 2020

Reuters Email Scam Making Rounds In 2020

A new Reuters email scam is making the rounds. The email is genuine and cleanly tracks back to Reuters mail servers. Our site security logs and tracks emails for the very purpose of conclusively proving the source of scam emails.

This is a sales scam. A person going by the name Ana Munoz sends out emails claiming she spoke with members of staff in your office. Ana got caught when she claimed to have spoken with a woman in my office by the name of Ms. Bennett. The trouble is, we don’t have anyone with a name that even remotely sounds like that employed with us.

Below is the actual unredacted email.

Good afternoon, Ms. Bennett.

I called and left you a vmail earlier.

I see that you’ve taken the first step in learning about our multimedia offerings by getting instant access to Reuters Connect.

As you only have view-only access to the types of assets available, I can have your account converted to a full access account as a trial, with permission to publish content in your website or print publication.

Following is more information –

The Reuters Connect platform offers clients access to all Reuters multimedia content using “points” for digital use.

Reuters Points provides metered access to all Reuters videos, pictures and graphics in one subscription, including archives and LIVE content.

Points subscribers will be able to use their subscription to license Reuters and partner content from other global news organizations.

Search functionality has “predictive search” with “completion suggester” which will speed up the search process.  All assets for a given story are put front-and-center for the user.

Please provide information on what your content needs are and what the intended use will be.  For digital use, please provide the number of monthly unique visitors for your website in order to quote monthly rates.  I can also provide information on our text wire services, if interested.

Let Reuters work for you!

Look forward to hearing from you.

Reuters needs to listen up and listen clearly. I won’t repeat myself.

Your criminal behavior stops now. There is no court on this planet that will protect you. Reuters USED to be a trusted agency that has thrown it all way with a single scam.

We recorded Reuters’ receipt of our article and that they read it. We also noticed several brute force attacks on our servers. We would hate to have to be forced to draw a conclusion.

We have a clearly outlined, NON-NEGOTIABLE policy about HONESTY.

Our Article submission guidelines clearly outline WHY we refused to do business with this disreputable entity claiming to be a purveyor of legitimate journalism.
