KETCHIKAN, Alaska, May 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Waterfall Resort Alaska, the premiere fishing lodge in Alaska, is gearing up for the 2019 summer season (June 14 – August 18) with a variety of adventure-filled events for guests to enjoy.
The 2019 season kicks off June 14 to 16with the annual Jackpot Challenge, sponsored by Waterfall Resort Alaska, Southern California Ford Dealers and Taquan Air. All guests can enter free or increase the possible cash jackpot by entering categories of $25, $50, $125, $200 and $500 (enter up to $900 per day per guest). Each evening at dinner, the winners are announced and awarded their jackpots.
“Every year, we have excited winners who not only enjoy catching king salmon, but also win money for landing the largest in their entry category,” shares Steve Cockrell, General Manager of Waterfall Resort Alaska. “It’s a great way to open our season.”
Other chances to win include the Great Alaska Tee Off, June 14-18, where a 165-yard drive across the saltwater lagoon can win fun prizes. Next to the tee area, the Lagoon Saloon, with its great drinks and other entertainment, is a great place to celebrate winning the longest drive.
The season-long King of Kings Tournament awards daily prizes together with season’s end cash prizes up to $10,000, return trips and Cabela’s gift certificates to winners in the king salmon and silver salmon categories. The tournament culminates in a drawing for a brand new Ford F150 truck.
“A little competition just adds a little extra interest to the already exciting fishing by awarding money and prizes to our participants,” Steve Cockrellcontinues. “Our combined competitions give away more than any other resort in Southeast Alaska.”
In addition to competitions, Waterfall Resort Alaska’s special weekends and corporate group retreats continue to share the wealth. Father’s Day Weekend, June 16-19, offers a group of four a complimentary upgrade to the Tongass Townhouses while availability lasts. As an added bonus, anglers 17 years and under qualify for a Kids Rate of 15% off.
Veteran’s Salute weekend is June 22 – 25. In the tradition of the historic Waterfall Cannery, which shipped canned salmon overseas to Allied forces during World War II, a special discount is offered in appreciation for all active and retired U.S. military service members.
A Fourth of July Celebration with games, BBQ and fireworks rounds out the fun with a 5th night completely free. Finishing up the season August 16 – 19, Seniors Getaway offers more discounts, and those individuals enjoy observing the final KOD drawing for the truck.
“All-in-all,” says Steve, “it’s an exciting season made up of great Alaska fishing with great guides in comfortable boats, fun activities back on shore, some healthy competition and, oh, of course great food.”
Located near Ketchikan, just a 90-minute flight from Seattle, Waterfall Resort is accessible by floatplane that lands directly in front of the resort where anglers of all skill levels embark on expertly guided sport-fishing excursions. In addition to catching king salmon, guests reel in more than twenty varieties of local sport fish including silver salmon, halibut, lingcod, yellow eye and more.
Southeast Alaska’s breath-taking landscape is filled with awe-inspiring wildlife encounters including humpback whales, orcas, bald eagles, and more. As evening approaches, guests feast on hearty Alaskan fare and fresh seafood in the Dining Room and share fish tales at the Lagoon Saloon.
