Rainbow trout season at Walker County Public Fishing Lake begins Friday, November 23, 2018. To fish for trout, anglers must have a $5 daily trout permit in addition to a valid fishing license. Walker County Lake is located 3 miles southeast of Jasper, Ala., just off U.S. Highway 78.
Prior to the opening of trout season, the lake will be closed November 19-22. During that time, the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) plans to stock more than 1,000 rainbow trout in a 2-acre pond located at the lake. The daily creel limit is four trout per angler. Trout anglers may also fish for bass, bluegill, catfish and crappie.
Walker County Public Fishing Lake is open from sunrise to sunset six days a week (closed Wednesdays) until December 11. The lake will close for winter on December 12 and reopen for spring fishing on February 1, 2019.
