PIEDMONT, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a 3D Family Fun Shoot, Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Flatwoods Conservation Archery Range in Piedmont. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the 3D archery course, which is free of charge.
“There is no other free event for anyone to shoot 3D animal targets in a woodland setting with absolutely no bowhunting experience,” said Dee Dee Dockins, a MDC Outdoor Skills Specialist. “This event is part of MDC’s mission to equip Missourians with the skills they need to get out on their own and enjoy nature, whether through hunting, fishing, or other activities.”
MDC will provide bows and arrows for archers who don’t have equipment and expert staff instructors will teach archery basics. Experienced archers are encouraged to bring their traditional and compound bows and arrows with practice tips. Crossbows are not permitted on the range.
“This is a perfect event for everyone in the family to shoot together. Archers will shoot targets at distances matched to their skill level,” said Alan Lamb, MDC’s Wayne County Conservation Agent.
Flatwoods Conservation Area is located just east of Piedmont off Highway B. Free hotdogs will be provided for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. New shooters will be awarded prizes for hitting designated targets. To facilitate provision of lunch, equipment and prizes, participants must register in advance at https://mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/167464.
